Charles Monferd Adams, 80, of Clay St., husband of Martha Irvin Smith-Adams, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his home.

Born September 12, 1932 in Lavonia, GA, he was the son of the late Monferd and Pauline Carlton Adams. Mr. Adams was a Christian man who loved the Lord and his church. He was a former usher and greeter at Rock Springs Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Inspirational Bible Fellowship Class. Mr. Adams served in the National Guard for 8 years and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired from Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Company and was associated with Adams Attic Antiques of Easley with his wife.

In addition to his wife of nineteen years, he is survived by his son, Monty Adams of Virginia Beach, VA; stepchildren, LuAnne McGuire and husband Rev. Mark J. McGuire of Easley, and Mark Smith and wife, Crystal Smith of Hendersonville, NC; sisters, Gwen Holliday and Iris McCoy; grandchildren, James Howard McGuire, Caleb McGuire and Katie Smith.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was predeceased by a son, Scott Adams; brother, Jerry Adams; and sister, Jean Browning.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Dr. David Gallamore and Rev. Mark McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM at the church prior to the service.

The family is at the home.

The Inspirational Bible Fellowship Class will serve as honorary escorts at the service.
