Charles Edward Adams, Sr., 85, of 100 Parkway Drive, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, Mr. Adams was a son of the late John Henry Adams and the late Nannie Simmons Adams Ledford. He was the owner and operator of Adams Body Shop and Wrecker Service for 45 years. Mr. Adams was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church where he belonged to the Challengers Sunday School Class.

He was a member of Bates Masonic Lodge No. 189 A.F.M. and Woodmen of the World. An eight-year U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Mr. Adams served in Germany in the Tank Destroyer Division under General George Patton.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Moore Adams of the home; one daughter, Linda Adams Trotter, and her husband, Mack, of Easley; two sons, Charles E, "Chuck" Adams, Jr., and his wife, Rachel, of Pickens and Johnny Adams and his wife, Darllajo, of Sunset; five grandchildren, Teresa D. Cox, Tony Duncan, Jr. Christi Robinson, Misti Greer, and Javin Adams; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Adams was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tami Duncan Hemphill; great-granddaughters, Caycie and Cheyenne Cox; mother-in-law, Pauline R. Moore; two brothers, Gene and Henry Adams; and his step-father, Carl Ledford.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Glenwood Baptist Church with the Reverends Dale McCoig and Randy Bryson officiating. The committal service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Reverend Mike Reid officiating. Escort of Honor will be the members of the Challengers Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Glenwood Baptist Church.
