Charles William Baas, 85, of the Foothills Presbyterian Retirement Community at Easley, SC, formerly of Keowee Key, SC, East Hampton, NY and New Jersey and husband of Gertrude Rosenast Baas, died Monday, February 27, 2006.
Dr. Baas was born in Atlantic City, NJ, a son of the late George Jacoby and Grace Hart Baas.
Dr. Baas earned a B.S. magna cum laude at Rutgers University, an M.B.A. summa cum laude at New York University, received a Litt. D. from Wagner College and was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
He served 41 years as Treasurer of the American Bible Society in NY. In addition he served as Treasurer of the United Bible Societies, was director and president of the Astor Place Real Estate Co. and was listed in "Who's who in America."
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons; Charles William Baas, Jr. and Bruce Warren Baas.
Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday at the Foothills Presbyterian Retirement Community, Easley, SC. Interment will follow in the columbarium at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, Clemson, SC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church, 4000 Earle E. Morris Jr. Highway, Greenville, SC 29611.
