Charles Edward Black, Sr., 68, of 1115 Shiloh Circle, went to be with the Lord Tuesday February 16, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Black was born in Greenville County, SC, a son of the late Roy Black and Helen Black McDowell. He was a graduate of Parker High School and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a 40 year member of United Transportation Union, Local 0931 and also a member of the Sam Poe Masonic Lodge. He was a faithful member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, where he served as Usher Captain and Greeter and was a member of the Men's 3 (Joel Ellenburg) Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Cooper Black, of the home ; sons, Charles Edward Black, Jr and his wife, Kristi Harvell Black, of Powdersville and Michael Kevin Black and his wife, Jade Galloway Black, of Anderson ; grandchildren, Chaz, Luke, Dalton, Cooper, Cade, Weston, Delaney, O'Hara, and a 9th grandchild expected in August, Hutton ; siblings, Dee Black Hall, of Piedmont, Pauline Black Noe, of Taylors and Daniel "Cadillac" Black, of Travelers Rest. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Louise Black Turner, of Canton, NC and Linda Black Jordan, of Greenville.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with the Reverend Rodney Graham and Dr. Jim Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM Friday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

The family is at the home.
