Charles McSwain (Mac) Burdette, 79, of 204 Sanders Road, Central, SC and husband of Billie Margaret Hatcher Burdette died Sunday, August 02, 2009 at AnMed Health.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late James Paul and Lila Bolt Burdette. He was a retired employee of Culp Woven Velvet in Anderson, SC. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, a long time volunteer with the Pendleton EMS-Rescue Squad and a member of Freedom Fellowship Church of Central, SC.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Boyd Burdette of Central, SC; three daughters, Wanda Matthews of Central, SC , Judy Mills of Greenville, SC and Deborah Haney of Pendleton, SC.; two grandchildren raised in the home, Michael Pilgrim of Anderson, SC and Margaret Maxey of Norris, SC.; a brother Hilburn Burdette of Greenwood, SC; two sisters, Amanda O'Dell of Anderson, SC and Annie Sue Durham of Piedmont, SC.; 11 additional grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 1pm at Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church, Central, SC. Burial will follow in the M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson.

The family will receive friends 6:30 8:30 PM Tuesday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central-Clemson Commons.

The family is at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at 12 noon on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Greenville Shriners Hospital, 940 West Farris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
