Mr. Charles Elswood "Chuck" Chaffey, 86, husband of Janet Disotell Chaffey, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 at his home.
Mr. Chaffey was born in Toledo, OH, a son of the late William Elsworth and Caroline Hanner Chaffey. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII, retired from Cornell University as Director of Operations of Nuclear Study and was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife, of the home, are two daughters, Carolyn Gibson (Robert) of Easley and Shari Keegan of Malta, NY; a son, Charles "Chuck" Biddle (Brenda) of Matthews, NC; one brother, William Chaffey of Pittsburgh, PA; and seven grandchildren, Grace Gibson, Kaitlin Gibson, Bobby Gibson, Amanda Biddle, Charlie Biddle, Ryan Keegan, and Robbie Winney. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chaffey was predeceased by his first wife, Olive Ann Chaffey and a son, Charles John Chaffey.
Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
Family members are at their respective homes.
