Charles Wayne Fullerton, 81, of Easley, South Carolina, faithful servant of God and loving husband of Gladys Peters Fullerton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Born on August 11, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida, he was a son of the late Charley and Grace Pietrasanta Fullerton. He was a loving husband to his wife of 59 years, a faithful partner through joys and trials, and the the heart of a family that extended beyond their two daughters to countless others they welcomed into their circle.
Wayne was a Marine, serving in Vietnam, and a successful businessman working as an insurance manager and human resources consultant. His driving passion, however, was to know and love God and to love others. His impact on the Body of Christ was outsized as he invested in the lives of men who now serve as pastors and elders across the country, in addition to many others he and Gladys mentored, counseled and taught in their home and in the local church.
Wayne’s own words summarize his desires for us who remain after his death:
“I have committed myself to God’s care, secure in His love for me and trusting the salvation purchased for me by the grace of God through Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection. I leave those who survive me the comfort of knowing that I have died in this faith and have now joined my Lord in eternal glory. I encourage my loved ones who have not believed in the Lord Jesus Christ to place their faith and trust in Him alone.”
For those who believe, may Wayne’s death strengthen our faith and remind us that though we are frail and temporal we serve a God who is all-powerful and eternal. Our confidence is that we will see Wayne again as we worship our God forever.
In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, Wayne is survived by two daughters, Tiffiny Sheyda (Tim), of Monument, Colorado, and Tamara Fullerton Lindsey (Matthew) of Meggett, South Carolina; a brother, Donald; three sisters, Mary, Peggy, and Rita; twelve grandchildren, Elizabeth, Austin, Hayden, Luke, Kate, Ian, Gavin, Will, Seth, Joshua, Nathan, and Thomas; 10 great-grandchildren, Wren, Haley, Raina, Stella, James, Em, Noa, Alanna, Sierra and Arya; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other brothers and sisters in Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joy.
The family will host a memorial service on Tuesday, April 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Second Presbyterian Church, 105 River Street, Greenville, South Carolina 29601. A reception will follow the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Grace Fellowship Church at P.O. Box 280, Mineral Springs, North Carolina 28108.
