Charles Cleveland Hagood, 69, husband of Anne Sherman Hagood, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Easley, Mr. Hagood was a son of the late George Cleveland and Mary Smith Hagood. Charlie graduated from Easley High School in June 1958. During his senior year in high school, he was president of the student body. He graduated with honors from Clemson College in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and was first in his Textile Class. He was president of Phi-Psi, president of Blue Key, a member of the Pershing Rifles, a member of the Tiger Brotherhood, and a member of Delta Kappa Alpha.

Charlie also earned a Master of Science in Textile Technology in 1964 from the Institute of Textile Technology in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he studied on a fellowship. Upon graduating, he took a position with Alice Manufacturing in Easley. In 1975, he was made a vice president of the company.

In 1987, Charlie decided to change careers and pursue his long-time avocation of finance. He joined J.C. Bradford & Co. as a financial consultant in Greenville. At the time of his death, he was a vice president and financial consultant with Hilliard Lyons in Greenville.

Charlie was a lifelong member of Easley Presbyterian Church, serving through the years as a deacon and assistant treasurer.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Sherman Hagood, of the home; a son, Chuck and his wife, Shannon, of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Grace, of Raleigh, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Lauren, Charlie, Miller, and Eliza Hagood. He is also survived by an elder brother, Bill, and his wife, Beth, and niece, Ginger MacDonald (Andre); and a younger brother, Sandy, and his wife, Wanda, niece Allison, and nephew Tim.

A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Hagood Family Cemetery in Pickens with a public memorial service at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Easley Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the church parlor immediately following the memorial service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, S.C. 29605.
