Mr. Charles Thomas Hester, 86, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Robert Lee and Dessie Kessie Shaw Hester, Mr. Hester was a Veteran of the US Army, the US Navy for nineteen years, and later retired from the US Merchant Marines with nineteen years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sons, Charles T. Hester, Jr. (Sybil) of Piedmont, and David W. Hester (Peggy) of Greenville; two brothers, Alvin Edward Hester (Elizabeth) of Anderson, and Marvin Edgar "Buddy" Robinson of Dalzell, SC; one sister, Inez Buck of Anderson; and three grandsons, Gary Brandon Hester, David Brantley Hester, and Matthew Mark Hester. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hester was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 13, 2014 in the Veteran's Garden of Honor of Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Rd., Easley, SC 29642.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road, prior to the service.
Family members are at their respective homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
