Charles E. Hunter

Charles E. Hunter, 85, of Easley, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Willie Obie Hunter and Sarah Lela Robinson Hunter.
Mr. Hunter was retired from Alice Manufacturing after 35 years of dedicated service. He was an avid baseball and sports fan having played with the textile baseball teams and church softball teams. In 2015, he was inducted into the Easley Baseball Ring of Honor. Of all his accomplishments, his family was his heart and soul.
Charles also retired from Robinson Funeral Home where he was a funeral assistant and a friend to many. He was an active member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church and the Bates Masonic Lodge #189 A.F.M.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Barbara Jean Dodgens Hunter; his children, Renee' Tinsley (Kenny), Charlene Keef (Tommy), Robyn Moore, Crystal McClure (Jeff), Tracy Gantt, all of Easley, Tommy Lee Chapman of Orlando, FL., and Toni Page (Billy) of Greenville; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Tate (Jimmy) of Easley and Connie H. Porter (Smith) of Pickens; and a brother, Harold L. Hunter (Betty) of Easley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Moore and sons-in-law, Monte Gantt, Jimmy Moore, and Jerry Tinsley.
Charles will lie in state at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown on Monday, October 5, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
A private family service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2020 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Scroll to the video player below to view the service.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Tinsley, Travis Gantt, Shane Tinsley, Dylan King, Jeff King, Ben Fortner, Tony Burnett and Brandon McCurley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jones Avenue Baptist Church, 614 Ross Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.
The family will be at the home.
