Charles David Hunter, Sr., 84, lifelong resident of Central and husband of Mary Etta Smith Hunter, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC.

Born in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late John Curtis and Sara Frances (Fannie) Hunter. Charles was a retired Construction Foreman with Central Concrete and Plaster Company and a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years are four sons, David Hunter (Sue), Thomas Hunter (Janet), Gerald Hunter (Phronsia) and Tony Hunter (Rosemary) all of Central; daughter, Joyce Stephens (Roger) of Six Mile, SC; brothers, Curtis Hunter (Loretta) of Liberty and James Hunter of Central; sisters, Lucille Hamilton and Ruth Reynolds both of Central; 8 grandchildren, Daniela Lynn (Tim), Julie Nosko (John), Jeff Hunter (Leslie), Alina Herring (Joey), Alan Stephens (Jennifer), Alexis Bridges (Wesley), Daniel Hunter (Laura) and Amee Wright (Jay); 8 great-grandchildren, Kristin Bridges, Logan Bridges, Zachary Lynn, Daniel Lynn, Mary Katherine Herring, Kalynn Herring, Kinsleigh Herring and James Stephens; 2 step-grandchildren, Justin and Courtney Barksdale; and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Dylan and Breanna Barksdale.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a half-sister, Mary King Ables.

Funeral services will be 3 PM, Wednesday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central with burial to follow in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.

The family will be at their respective homes.
