Charles F. James, Central
Charles F. James, husband of Sara S. James, died November 21, 2007 after an extended illness. He was born in Liberty, son of the late W. Thomas and Mae Abbott James and educated in Liberty School, Iowa State and Clemson College.
During WWII he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Westpoint. Charles was supervisor over the maintenance and shop department at Cannon Mills for 23 years, then was plant engineer at TRW until his retirement.
Charles was a life member of the Central Masonic Lodge 229, the American Legion Post 151, a former council member, Lions Club, President of the Central PTA and served on the committee with Oconee Vocational School for several years.
In addition to his wife are sons, Ronald D. James of Salem, Charles James Jr. and his wife Denise and grandson Charles James III all of Savannah, GA and 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 2 brothers, W.T. and Ansel R. James and a sister Geneva Stephens.
Graveside services will be Friday, November 23 at 3pm at Memory Gardens with the Rev. Leonard Spohn officiating.
