Charles Huston Meeks, 94, of Easley, South Carolina, husband of the late Zelma Brooks Meeks, entered heaven on Monday, March 3, 2025.
Born in Huntsville, Alabama, he was the son of the late Houston Meeks and Daisy Newby Meeks. Charlie was employed at Ryder Truck Lines in Huntsville before moving to Easley, South Carolina, where he served as the Plant Manager at Continental Southern Industries (CSI) in Greenville until his retirement. After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed working the concession at The Liberty Rose, a business owned by their daughter, Carol, where they formed lasting friendships.
Charlie was a man of great faith. He was saved at Geer Memorial Baptist Church on August 9, 1970, and lived the rest of his life dedicated to the Lord. He later became a founding member and deacon at Powdersville First Baptist Church. Never meeting a stranger, he shared his testimony with everyone he encountered, living by Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.”
He is survived by his two daughters, Carolyn Ann Rose (Bill) and Cathey Charlene Rampey (Mark), both of Easley; two grandsons, Mark Rose and Christopher Rose; three great-grandchildren, Jamie Rose (Patrick), Brady Rose (Holly), and his namesake, Charles Houston Meeks Rose (“Hugh”); and one great-great-granddaughter, Bryn Rose.
In addition to his wife of 72 years, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Meeks, and his sister, Estelle Wynn.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to his palliative P.A., Juanita Aviles, his home health caregiver, Haley, and his nurses at Agape Hospice—Judy, Charlotte, and Joshua—for their care during his final moments.
Mr. Meeks will be available for viewing without the family present on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum in Robinson Memorial Gardens, conducted by Chaplain Wes Henderson.
While we will miss him, we find peace knowing that he is now more alive than ever, rejoicing in the arms of Jesus and reunited with his beloved wife and daughter.
Flowers will be accepted.
