Charles Walter Powell, 75, of 118 Buckingham Court and husband of Diane Ferguson Powell, died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Born in Rosman, NC, a son of the late Corneilus and Annie Meece Powell, he was a retired Supervisor with Singer Company.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 31 years are: four daughters, Sheila Summey and husband, Hamp, of Pickens, Jynene Burgess and husband, Johnny, of Pickens, Angie Hall and husband, Tommy, of Asheville, NC and Charlene Mayfield and husband, Walter, of Anderson; one sister, Norma Raines and; two brothers, Melvin Powell and Ernest Powell and wife, Jo, all of Rosman, NC; and six grandchildren, Kayla Calcutt and husband, Ron, Korey Smith, John David and Will Burgess, Zach and Josh Hall; one great-grandchild, Parker Calcutt; and an extended loving family who cared for Charlie deeply.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by: one sister, Jo Chappell; and a son, John Powell.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Chester Chappell officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice Foundation, 4006 East North Street, Suite A, Greenville, SC 29615.

The family is at the home.
