Rev. Charles Edward Whitman, 77, of 133 Meadowood Dr., husband of Thelma Moss Whitman, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born August 8, 1934 in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Claude and Thelma Johnson Whitman. Rev. Whitman was a US Air Force and US Navy veteran. He retired in 1989 from the ministry from the Church of God of Prophecy and owned and operated Chuck�??s Barbershop in Greenville until 2005. Rev. Whitman was a member of Lenhardt Christian Fellowship.

In addition to his wife of fifty six years, he is survived by his daughters, Charlene Rhoads (Alan) of Thompson Station, TN, Terri Bryant (Randy) of Seneca and son, Darrell Whitman (Debbie) of Simpsonville; sister, Carolyn Whetstine (Steve) of McConnell; and brother, Donald Whitman ( Cathy) of Edgemore; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Clarence Edward Whitman and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM Tuesday, at the funeral home.
