Cheryle Mitchell, 72, of Liberty, SC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on September 6, 2025. A gentle soul who graced this world with her love and warmth was born on June 1, 1953, in Hackensack, NJ, to the late Alfred and Anne Linder. With a heart as big as her smile, she touched the lives of many, creating beautiful memories that will linger on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Known for her sweet nature and unwavering generosity, Cheryle was a beacon of light to all around her. A friend once said, “You could hear her smile through the phone,” a testament to the joy she brought to those who had the privilege to know her. She had an incredible ability to make others feel special.
Cheryle found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, her love for animals, cooking delightful meals, and singing merrily, even if her melodies didn’t always hit the right notes. Her laughter echoed through the halls of her home, a sound that will be dearly missed by all who experienced it.
Above all, Cheryle cherished her family. Being a mother and grandmother was her proudest accomplishment, and her world revolved around them. The bonds they shared were profound, with her welcoming home serving as a refuge for not just her family, but also for her children’s friends, who affectionately called her “mom” well into adulthood. Her hard work and dedication provided for her family, and her presence was a constant support at games, recitals, band shows, and countless other memorable events.
Her children survive Cheryle, Lisa Anne Holbrook (Dan), and Sean Gregory Mitchell; her grandchildren, Dalton Alexander Holbrook (Margaret), Danyel Alexis Holbrook, and Danika Alissa Holbrook; her brother Charles Gregory Linder; and the father of her children and friend, Greg B. Mitchell, and Toodles, her beloved handicapped companion.
She is preceded in death by her aforementioned parents and a brother, Gary Linder.
The family will host a celebration of life on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Pathway Church in Piedmont, SC.
