Chichi Ann Harris Herr, 68, of 205 Lacustrian Lane, Central, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, with family by her side.
Chichi was born in Maryville, Tennessee on November 15, 1946 to Ray and Sarah McClurg Harris. Chichi was a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelors degree and Masters degree in Secondary Education, and she served as a math teacher for over 25 years, at DWD Daniel High School. Chichi had a passion for Daniel High School and was the long time faculty advisor for the DWD Daniel Foundation, a foundation that supports students and faculty. She made the biggest difference in the classroom. Her passion for math, especially algebra and calculus, was unparalleled. She changed many lives and was a true inspiration to generations of students. Chichi loved working with students; however, the greatest role of her life was being a mother to her three daughters and grandmother to her six grandchildren. Gamma, as she was lovingly known by her grandchildren, spent many hours with her family playing games, working puzzles, cheering from the sidelines, and of course teaching them math by breaking out the flash cards.
Chichi is survived by her mom; her three daughters; Sheri Wilson of Westminster, MD, Marianne Glaser of Braselton, GA, and Michele Stancil of Central, SC; and six grandchildren, Nathan Wilson (12), Amber Wilson (9), Kathryn Glaser (7), Harrison Glaser (5), Grant Stancil (5), and London Stancil (3).
The funeral for Chichi will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 4:00pm at Duckett Robinson Funeral Home in Central, SC. A visitation will immediately follow the service. There will be a burial service on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11:00am at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the DWD Daniel foundation, in memory of Chichi Herr, 140 Blue and Gold Blvd., Central, SC 29630.
