Mrs. Christine Galloway Cochran, 102, wife of the late William Perry "Bill" Cochran, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at Brookdale-Easley.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Oscar S. Galloway, Sr. and the late Lou Annie Bryant Galloway, Christine graduated from Maynard High School in Dacusville where she played basketball. She was an active member of United Wesleyan Church and Arial Wesleyan Church for more than eighty years where she taught Sunday School and directed many Christmas pageants in her younger days. She enjoyed the Jocassee Mountains and cooking "Sunday dinner" for her family. She never met a stranger and was well loved and respected by her family and friends.
Surviving are four sons, Paschal Cochran of Anderson, Theron Cochran, Matt Cochran and Dan Cochran (Mandy), all of Easley; two sisters, Wylene King and Eulala Gause; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cochran was predeceased by the wife of her son Paschal Cochran (Alta); three brothers, Winfred Galloway, Oscar S. Galloway, Jr. and Dewey Galloway; and four sisters, Bernice Mosley, Eunice Bagwell, Dillie Everingham, and Annas Houston.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 9, 2016 at United Wesleyan Church with Reverends Tim Jones and Lawrence Keever officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Monday at the church, prior to the service.
Family members are at their respective homes.
The Cochran family would like to thank special friend and caregiver, Cathie Johnston, her many other caregivers, Ark Hospice and Hospice of the Upstate for the extraordinary care given to her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Wesleyan Church, 738 Rice Road, Easley, SC 29640; to Ark Hospice, 101 Grace Drive, Easley, SC 29640; or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
