Christine Stokes Dodgens, 89, of 1433 Cedar Rock Church Road, died Monday, September 28, 2009, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Arthur and Janie Parsons Stokes, Mrs. Dodgens retired from Easley First Baptist Daycare and was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of sixty-eight years, Donald G. Dodgens of the home; a son, Wayne Dodgens, and special friend, Leah Sanders, of Seneca; a sister, Louise Grant of Delaware; a granddaughter, Kendall Philabaum and husband, Michael, of Massilou, OH; and a great-grandson, Noah James Philabaum. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dodgens was predeceased by six sisters, Evelyn Holcombe, Ethel Hiott, Bertha McFadden, Grace James, Marie Owens and Nora Stokes, and by five brothers, Jake Stokes, Edward Stokes, Drayton Stokes, John Henry Stokes and Armond Stokes.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Dale McCoig officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Honorary Escorts will be Paula Edwards, Janie Cox, Gladys Spearman, Pat Leroy and Frances Campbell.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

The family is at the residence.
