Christopher Hurley Cain passed away on February 2, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on February 27, 1948, in Montgomery, Alabama.
As the result of being raised in a large military family, Chris traveled extensively growing up. The family adventures led to wonderful memories and funny stories that have been relived over the years. Chris enlisted in the Air Force as a young man and was stationed at Edwards Air Force in California where he served as a radar technician. After his enlistment, Chris attended Auburn University where he earned his Master’s degree with a major in counseling. He used his education in his work as the Dean of Students at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama and later served as a Federal Probation Officer in Atlanta, Georgia where he developed restitution programs that benefitted victims and the community.
Chris is survived by his brother Timothy Cain (Paige); sisters, Margaret Burdette (Norman), Emily Cain (Dean), Jenny Hendrick (Larry); and nine nieces & nephews. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Ruth Renfro, and his three lifelong friends, Gerald Paulk, Steve Daughtry, and Ed Rahal who he loved and with whom he shared some wild and wonderful times. Gus was his beloved dog who he rescued from the side of the road and nursed back to health. Gus was most likely there to meet him when he reached the gates of heaven.
Chris is preceded in death by his loving parents James Lester and Margaret Finger Cain.
