Christopher Jacob StriblingMay 27, 1995 - March 7, 2016Those who knew Jake will no doubt remember him for his quick witted humor and engaging smile. Christopher Jacob Stribling, as he was formally known, died peacefully in his sleep in his apartment at Clemson University on Monday, March 7, 2016. He was 20 years old. Jake was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Jake was born on May 27, 1995, in Greenville, SC. He was born ten years behind his sister, Brantley, and six years behind his brother, Kennedy. They loved him dearly and played with and taught him new things everyday. He enjoyed his "BooBoo" and "Keedy" immensely. He always had the most precious grin on his face as a little boy.
Jake played soccer and basketball and was very disciplined in his weight-lifting workout routine. His musical talents came to him naturally, and he was a self-taught wiz on the drums and guitar, helping lead his church youth group band all through middle and high school.
Having been blessed with an adventurous spirit, Jake traveled with his cousins from Canada to the Caribbean Islands and many places in between enjoying skiing, snorkeling, hiking, off-roading, horseback riding, cruising, and seeing lots of God's beautiful creation.
A motivated learner, Jake graduated high school with 34 college credit hours and then went on to Clemson where he was majoring in financial management.
Over the years, Jake took on a Meals on Wheels delivery route, helped in church children's programs, provided lawn maintenance for the elderly, and was a participant in a service club. Jake worked part-time at Publix in Easley, where he was a loyal cashier. He was a wonderful babysitter for his young niece, Charlotte, whom he loved very much.
He enjoyed Clemson sports, especially Tiger football. Jake loved hanging out with his friends and making everyone laugh with his great sense of humor. He loved animals, especially dogs, and received great joy from caring for them.
Jake is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lewis Martin and Robert Maurer.
Jake is survived by his parents, Ken and Terri Stribling; his sister, Brantley Goforth (Austin); his brother, Kennedy Stribling; his niece, Charlotte Goforth; his grandmothers, Judy Martin and Lorri Maurer, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
