Mr. Christos Mayulianos passed into peace, at the age of 90, on August 27, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.
Christos was born in Queens, NY, on October 31, 1922, to the late Nicholas and Janet McLellan Mayulianos, who immigrated to the United States from Greece and Scotland respectively. He lived in Woodhaven, Staten Island, Queens, and on Long Island, New York, until 2005. A World War II Army veteran, Christos volunteered to serve his country in October of 1942, and was assigned to the 97th Signal Battalion/Intelligence as an Intercept Operator. He served, honorably, until October of 1945, participating in the advanced intelligence operation for the invasion of Normandy, France; as well as serving in Germany, England, and briefly in N. Africa and Italy. In Normandy, he was responsible for intercepting German military radio communications, copying and transmitting those messages for translation, decoding, and their eventual use in battle field operation command decisions.
After returning from WWII, he furthered his education in the field of engineering, working for Telemet Company, NY. In this capacity, Christos was instrumental in managerial oversight and coordination with numerous engineering contracts supporting the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas and Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In 1966, he was designated Project Manager, overseeing 25 departments, responsible for the materials design, manufacture and installation of wideband transmission systems for the Kennedy Space Center spacecrafts. Upon his departure from the engineering career field, he founded his own real estate company, Liberty Bell Realty, in East Setauket, New York; successfully operating as a broker for many years, and then a property manager.
Christos and his wife, Georgette, relocated in retirement years to Easley, South Carolina in 2005.
