Churchill Allen Carter, age 85, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Woodruff, Mr. Carter was a son of the late Floyd Kirkpatrick and Barbara Cassandra Cox Carter. He graduated from Clemson University, and he was co-founder of Carter and Crawley Inc. Mr. Carter was a longtime member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Mary Ann Todsen Carter; three sons, Churchill A. Carter, Jr. and his wife, Jean Huffman Carter, Kirk Todsen Carter and his wife, Margarette Holliday Carter, and Francis Kent Carter; one daughter, Carol Carter Wyant and her husband, Gregory Erich Wyant; seven grandchildren, Christopher Dennis and Whitney Walker Brewer, Michael Ryan and Amy Duncan Brewer, Aaron Carter Brewer, Gregory Logan and Kelley Doheny Wyant, Churchill A. Carter III, Kathleen Lucille Carter, and Margarette Ann Carter; and two great-granddaughters, Blake Emme and Maisy Laine Brewer. He was predeceased by a sister, Harriett Carter Moses and a son-in-law, Dennis Brewer.

Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Laurelwood Cemetery, 143 Laurel Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Memorials may be made to Clemson University Foundation, PO Box 1889, Clemson, SC 29633 to The Churchill Carter Family Scholarship Fund.

The family is at the home of Kirk and Margarette Carter, 224 Pimlico Road, Greenville, SC 29607, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday.
