Clara Elizabeth Chizum James, age 100, of Westminster, SC, entered her heavenly home on Monday, April 25. She was born April 5, 1922, in Fulton, IN.
She served alongside her husband of 67 years, Rev. W. D. “Bill” James, in full-time Christian ministry. She was a wife, mother, homemaker, prayer warrior, musician, encourager, and faithful friend. She served as office secretary for the South Carolina District of the Wesleyan Church for many years. She also served as a Trustee wife at Southern Wesleyan University and Hephzibah Children’s Home. Her main focus was on God and family and living out her life’s motto “All for Jesus.”
Mrs. James had a deep love of family and is survived by 3 sons: Rev. Paul James (Susan) of Westminster, SC, Rev. Mark James (Anna) of Liberty, SC, Rev. Tom James (Rebecca) of Central, SC; 7 grandchildren: David James (Dana) of Olathe, KS; Beth Demorest (Pete) of Wake Forest, NC; Kathy Morris (Earl) of Wake Forest, NC; Joy Bradley (Drew) of Waxhaw, NC; Ben James (Betsy) of Indianapolis, IN; Matthew James (Megan) of Central, SC; and Dr. Amber James of Central, SC; 15 great-grandchildren: Hannah James, Kailey Demorest, Ethan Bradley, Brianna Morris, Peytan James, Ashton Bradley, Gabriel Demorest, Isaiah Morris, Kyler James, Josiah Demorest, Reagan James, Raleigh James, Lucy James, J.J. Morris, and Joshua Morris; 1 brother, Estel “Lee” Chizum of South Bend, IN, and 1 sister-in-law, Ester Lee Vickery, of Georgetown, TX.
In addition to her husband Clara was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mabel Hollar Chizum; 4 brothers and 1 sister: Wilbur “Bill” Chizum, Marion Chizum, Art Chizum, Dean Chizum, and Anna Finley.
The funeral will be held at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 700 Issaqueena Trail, Central, SC, on Thursday, April 28, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. prior to the service. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum located in Memory Gardens, Clemson, SC.
