Clarence Dean Rogers, 86, of Clemson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully March 21, 2025.
Born in Lake View, SC, Clarence grew up in Fair Bluff, NC where he graduated from Fair Bluff High School. Throughout his high school years, he excelled in sports, and his passion for athletics remained a central part of his life. He went on to receive his bachelor’s and master’s degree from North Carolina State University and earned his PhD from Clemson University where he served as a professor for many years. Clarence dedicated 30 years to teaching in the Textile Department at Clemson University, where he also conducted numerous research projects with the textile industry across the country.
He was a dedicated member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elaine Hinson Rogers; daughters, Marianne Flythe (John Flythe) and Nancy Rogers; grandchildren, Katie Flythe, Ava Hirschl, and Vivian Hirschl.
A visitation will be held on March 28, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
A private burial will be held at Cemetery Hill on the campus of Clemson University.
