Cleo N. PowellEasley
Mr. Cleo Newton Powell, 81, husband of Mildred Alexander Powell, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Horace Rosemond and Ada Chandler Powell, Mr. Powell retired from Vulcan Materials-Lakeside Plant and was a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church. He was a US Army National Guard Veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty-two years, are two sons, Randall Powell (Lynn) of Liberty, and Glenn Powell (Karen) of Easley; a daughter, Kathy Powell Wade (Donnie) of Easley; two brothers, Alvin Powell (Betty), and Vernon Powell (Nancy); two sisters, Sarah Crowe (Junior), and Edna Raines (Claude); a sister-in-law, Eva Powell; five grandchildren, Nikki Wade, Josh Wade (Erin), Zachary Powell, Shannon Ellenburg and Ashley Smith (Travis); and three great-grandchildren, Adelynn and Kambree Smith, and Nevaeh. In addition to his parents, Mr. Powell was predeceased by two brothers, Herman and William Powell; a sister-in-law, Ann Powell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, M.C Alexander and Jeanette Alexander Kelley, and his step-father-in-law, Julius Kelley.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Blue Ridge View Baptist Church with Reverends Stuart Houston and Barry Dilworth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
