Cleo Franklin Watson, 87, of 200 Oates Avenue, went to be with the Lord Sunday November 1, 2009 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Bynum and Celia Brown Watson, Mr. Watson retired from Alice Manufactoring Company and Woodside Mills. He had been a member of Easley Church of God since March, 1944. At the church he served as Sunday School Superintendant for over 50 years, was a church Elder and past President of the "Young at Heart" Senior Citizens Group. Mr. Watson took great pride in growing tomatoes and delivering them to many offices and places of business in Easley. He was a veteran of World War II having served in Germany with the US Army. Mr. Watson also enjoyed fishing at the Outer Banks and Garden City.

Surviving are his daughter and her husband, Carol Lee Watson Whitfield and husband, William A. "Bill", of Saluda; two brothers, Norman Watson and wife, Ann, of Pickens and Milford Watson, of Easley ; two sisters, Ressie Bowen, of Easley and Mildred Smith, of Jefferson, GA; two grandsons and their wives, Warren Whitfield (Leigh), of Pensacola, FL and Roman Whitfield (Julie), of Ridge Spring; great-grandchildren, Will Whitfield and Anna Caroline Whitfield, both of Pensacola, FL, and Weston Whitfield and Noah Whitfield, both of Ridge Spring; and his dearest and best friend since December 18, 2004, Lois Beckett, of Easley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Lonnie Lee Gibson Watson ; a sister, Carmen Watson and a grandson, Gregory Schanen Whitfield.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Easley Church of God with the Rev. Dr. David Sustar officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the church, prior to the service.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Escort of Honor for the service will be members of the Senior Adults Group and the Carl Cape Sunday School Class.
