"His Lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:21

Clifton Holmes Mudge of Central, SC, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Father-in- Law left his earthly family to join his Heavenly Father and his Savior on November 25th, 2017.

Clif was born December 29th, 1930 in Providence, RI, to Harold and Marion Mudge. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1952 and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jane Derby, in July of that same year. In 1954, Clif and Barbara moved to Johnsonville, SC, where Clif was employed by Clemson University/Wellman Industries. In subsequent years, he formed a land clearing and farming partnership with Walker Poston of Hemingway, SC. In addition to working for the University, Clif was an avid Tiger fan.

Over the ensuing years, Clif and Barbara welcomed their children—Stephen, David, Deborah, Laurence and Mary. They raised their family in Johnsonville and were members of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Hemingway, SC. Clif and Barbara's children married and brought grandchildren and eventually great-grandchildren into the family. He was a proud family man and loved all of his family as it continued to grow and expand. Clif took on a second career in the 1980's becoming an agent and subsequently Branch Manager of Metropolitan Life's Myrtle Beach, SC office. Clif and Barbara were members of Surfside Presbyterian Church before retiring to the Clemson, SC area.

Clif was preceded in death by his parents, son David and great-grandson Avett Ruthsatz. He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, Brothers Richard (Pat) Mudge and George (Judy) Jones; children Stephen (Amanda) Mudge, Deborah (Michael) Morton, Laurence (Betsy) Mudge and Mary (Todd) Day as well as nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There was one motto that Clif used during his life that he also shared with hundreds of people, many of them complete strangers. His motto was simply KOKO, Keep On Keeping On.
