Clinton "Whitey" Allen Gilreath, 84, of Liberty, SC, husband of the late Ruby Cisson Gilreath, passed away on December 15, 2025. Born in Anderson County on December 4, 1941, to the late Ernest Gilreath and the late Nellie Hicks Gilreath, he was of Methodist faith.
"Whitey" was a proud Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he honorably served his country and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. His military service was a testament to his bravery and commitment to protecting the freedoms we cherish.
Leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication, he was a respected diesel mechanic, known for his craftsmanship and commitment to his trade, serving his community with skill and knowledge throughout his career.
In addition to his technical expertise, "Whitey" had a passion for collecting tools, gardening and visiting flea markets.
In addition to his wife, Ruby, and his parents, he is preceded in death by his second wife, Dorothy Galbreath Cisson, two sons, Butch Futrell and Lewis Futrell and six brothers, Charles, Ralph, Theo Tommy, J.C., and Delford Gilreath.
"Whitey" is survived by son, Raymond Futrell, daughters, Shirley Crittenden and Ellen Myrick (Bobby); sisters, Sue Shellenbarger, Kathryn Jones and Jean Chapman; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great -great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
His happiest role was as "Papa," a title he wore with pride. His dedication to his family and loved ones was evident in every interaction, and he cherished the joyful moments spent with them.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM on Friday, March 6, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Burial will be held In Greenlawn Memorial Park with Army military honors.
