Clyde Eldon Chapman, 82, husband of Betty Baker Chapman, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer November 1, 2012 at his home.

A son of the late Elmer and Aloe Moss Chapman, Clyde was born in Oconee County in 1930. After school, he joined the Army National Guard, where he retired a Chief Warrant Officer (CW4) after forty years of service. Mr. Chapman was the owner and operator of Clyde Chapman Insurance and Heritage Real Estate and was a devout member of First Baptist Church of Easley, for fifty-nine years, where he was a deacon, a member of the Concepts Sunday school class and a former RA leader. Clyde was a former member of the Easley Lions Club, past President of the Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Jaycees, past President of the Pickens County Board of Realtors, and a member of the Bates Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard L. Chapman (Crystal) of Charleston; two daughters, Karen Pettyjohn (Robert) of Wake Forest, NC, and Julie Ianuario (Paul) of Salem; a brother, Davis Edwin Chapman of Cartersville, GA; and seven grandchildren, Rebecca Parker (Dr. Jeremy Parker), Katie Reuther (Andrew), Wendy Poole (Steven), Nik Chapman, Alex Chapmen, Jennifer Chapman, and Christopher Chapman.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 4, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Easley, with the Reverend Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Visitation will be from 1:30 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. in the narthex of the church, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Easley Building Fund, 300 East First Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.

The family is at the residence.
