Rev. Clyde Gravley Jr, age 84, entered into his eternal home with Jesus on March 28, 2023. He faithfully Pastored Galilee Baptist Church for over 51 years. He spent 53 years on the radio with WELP and WTBI sharing the gospel sound throughout the World. Rev. Gravley served the Lord through preaching the Word of God in Nursing Home Ministry, and Prison Ministry. He was diligent in loving others in need, and well-known for showing up to assist others when called. He traveled miles throughout the years to Revivals, and Camp Meetings to hear and to preach the sound Gospel, Good News of Jesus. He used his voice to sing about his Savior. Rev. Gravley was a logger by trade for 52 years alongside Pastoring. He was known to always have a smile and make a friend wherever he went.
He was the loving husband of Jon Ellen Gravley for 68 wonderful adventure-filled years. They served alongside each other together in ministry sharing the love of Jesus on a daily basis to all those who would hear.
He was a loving Daddy who did no wrong in the eyes of his five children who love him. He was adored and known as Papa to his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. His legacy will live far beyond his 84 years to be carried in the hearts of all who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Jon Ellen Gravley, his son Mike Gravley and his daughters Tammy and Joanna Gravley. He also leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren who will cherish his memory, Jill Neal, Cheyenne (Timmy) Stegall, Malachi Gravley, Daulton Gravley, and Bridgett Powers. Rev. Gravley also had the joy of being loved by many great-grandchildren, Corey Owens, Makynsi Owens, Tristan Burrell, Lexi Pridmore, Kingston Luckey, Everleigh Stegall, Ella Stegall, Anna Yates, Avery Yates, Hank Powers, and Allison Powers. He also had one great-great-grandson, Harrison Burrell. He is also survived by his siblings, Pearl (Roy) Barrett, Clara (Fred) Kelly, Calvin Ladd, and James Ladd. Aside from immediate family Rev. Gravley leaves behind many nieces, nephews, church family, and close friends.
Rev. Gravley is predeceased by a son, Jimmy Gravley, and a daughter, baby Jon Ellen Gravley. The Reverend is also predeceased by grandchildren, Sonya Shirley, Joey Gravley, Mikie Gravley, Michael Yates, and Triniti Martin. He was also predeceased by a sister, JoAnn Dobbins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday April 2, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home Powdersville Road in Easley. There will be a funeral service held Monday April 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley with burial to follow immediately after at Robinson Memorial Gardens in Easley. Rev. Gravley’s Family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for all of your prayers, texts, calls, messages, food, and outpouring of love over the last couple of months. Thank you for all of your donations to honor this great man of God. You and your support have meant so much to Rev. Gravley and all of our family. We appreciate you and are so grateful for you all loving him like you do. We are at peace knowing he is now shouting in Heaven and singing on the streets of Glory. We will share his favorite verse with you for we know he has not perished but lives eternally forever more.
