Clyde Leonard Parks

November 3, 1928 — October 12, 2017

Clyde Leonard Parks, PhD, 88, husband of Erma Harden Parks, died Thursday, October 12, 2017 at AnMed Health in Anderson, SC.

Born in Mulberry, TN, he was a son of the late Samuel W. and Katie Pauline Reed Parks. Leonard earned his BS Degree from Tennessee Tech, his Masters from Auburn University and his PhD from Texas A&M. He came to Clemson University in 1969 and retired as Professor Emeritus of Agronomy and Soils. He was a US Air Force Veteran and a member of First Baptist Church of Clemson.

He was a devoted husband to his wife Erma and a devoted father to his special needs daughter Mary Kate. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:30 PM, Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC with Dr. Rusty Brock officiating.

The family will greet friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM, Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at Clemson Downs for their care and concern.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Tribble Center Special Needs Foundation, 116 South Cove Road, Seneca, SC 29672 or to First Baptist Church of Clemson Building Fund, 397 College Avenue, Clemson, SC 29631.
