Colie Blackston, 93, formerly of East Hill Drive, husband of the late Mary Stewart Blackston, died Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the Brian Center in Brevard, NC.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late George and Maggie Galloway Blackston, Mr. Blackston retired from Platt Saco-Lowell and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army.
Surviving are a step-son, Stuart Pace and wife, June, of Easley; a brother, Rev. Dewitt Blackston of Easley; and four grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Blackston was predeceased by a son, Jerry "Skeeter" Blackston, three brothers, Lesley Blackston, Roy Blackston and Luther Blackston, and by a sister Lizzie Corn.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church, 310 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.
