Coy Lester Huffman, Jr., age 86, of Cleveland Street, Greenville, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his home.
Born in Greenville, Mr. Huffman was a son of the late Coy Lester and Mary Sullivan Huffman. He graduated from Greenville High School and served in the Maritime Marines during World War II aboard the USS Utica. Mr. Huffman co-owned Hardwood Manufacturing Company with his brother James Earle Huffman. Mr Huffman was a member of Christ Church Episcopal. He also belonged to the Greenville Country Club, Poinsett Club, and the Pawley's Island Yacht Club.
Surviving are his wife, Lynn Speegle Huffman of the home; two sons, Coy L. Huffman III (Theresa) and R. Bates Huffman (Vivian) all of Greenville; two daughters, Mary Lynn Youngs (David) of Dallas, Texas and Dudley H. Kerchmar (David) of Spartanburg; a sister, Carolyn H. Roane (Peter), of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Coy Lester Huffman IV, Virginia Lynn Huffman, Chesley Elizabeth Huffman, Andrea Lynn Lane, David Patrick Youngs, Ralph Bates Huffman Jr., Madeline Elizabeth Huffman, and Ronald Lawrence Fulmer Jr. ; and six great-grandchildren, Hailey Theresa Sawyer, Coy Lester Huffman V, Ryley Grace Youngs, Reegan Luke Youngs, Gabriel Youngs Layne and Morgan Robert Layne. Mr. Huffman was predeceased by a brother, James Earle Huffman; and a sister, Margaret H. Adams.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Springwood Cemetery where the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680 or Christ Church Episcopal, 10 N. Church Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
