Curtis R. Smith
Liberty

Mr. Curtis R. Smith, 78, devoted husband of 50 years to the late Irma Eastep Smith, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 in Pickens County.

Curtis was born December 21, 1938 to the late J.T. and Vivian Elrod Smith. He grew up in Pendleton, SC and graduated from Boy's High School in Anderson. He earned a living as an accountant but his daily occupation was enjoying and appreciating God's precious gift of life and caring for his family. His deep love for his wife was demonstrated by the special care he provided throughout the declining years of her battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Curtis truly never met a stranger and enjoyed a good conversation sprinkled with laughter more than anything else. Always with a book close at hand, he had a lifelong curiosity and desire to learn about all things.
In addition to his wife and parents, Curtis was predeceased by a brother, Donald Smith, and he will be sorely missed by his children, Mark Smith (Sandie) of Taylors, Denise Stewart (Sammy) and Rita Watts, all of Liberty; grandchildren, Brian, Matthew and Ben Smith, Todd and Craig Stewart, Megan Dillashaw, Tyler and Courtney Watts; and 6 great-grandchildren
