Cynthia Hege Rodgers, of Clemson, widow of James G. Rodgers, died Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Clemson Downs. She was born in Spencer, NC and grew up in Salisbury, NC.  She graduated from Duke University (BA English) and NC State University (MS).  One of her proudest accomplishments was being a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.

 

Cindy was married for 64 years and she and Jim lived in Raleigh, NC, Kingsport, TN, and Asheville, NC before moving to Clemson in 1971. She and Jim were charter members of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Clemson. Cindy was an avid reader, loved traveling, camping, whitewater kayaking, and watching tennis on TV. She also loved animals, especially wolves and birds. One of her favorite places was at Lake James in Morganton, NC.

 

Cindy is survived by a daughter, Audrey Bodell, of Seneca; a son, Eric Rodgers (Kim Robinson) of Central; four grandchildren, Sara Bodell (Reece Motley), Stewart Bodell (Rachel), Heather Rodgers, and Forest Rodgers; and great-grandchild, River Rodgers.

 

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Theresa Hege; husband, Jim Rodgers, daughter-in-law, Becky Rodgers, and sister, Mari Rink.

 

The family would like to thank all the staff at Clemson Downs for their love and attention and especially Marcus Jenkins, Cindy’s special friend and caregiver.

 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

If desired, memorials may be given to the Pickens County Humane Society, 500 Five Forks Road, Liberty, SC 29657.
