Dale Sitton Rogers, 69, passed from earth to heaven on Monday, February 9th at ECU North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids. She was the beloved wife of Pastor Rick Rogers of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and the daughter of John Dixon and Ruth Ragsdale Sitton of Easley, South Carolina. She was a direct descendant of Robert Holcombe, one of the co-founders of Easley.
Dale grew up in Easley, where she was Competitive. Not that she was mean-spirited, but she thrived on physical activities. She won numerous bowling trophies, took dance lessons, played tennis, and excelled in water sports. She was also Creative. During their transfers as pastor and wife, Dale sang with the Ridge Choral Society in Batesburg, S.C. and the Oratorio Chorus in Aiken. She was active in the Aiken Writers' Group and the Writers' Club in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Mrs. Rogers published two books (Lighthouse on Tortola and Orange Snow) and was involved in community theatre. Dale was introverted; she liked people, but was not as easy to get to know as the more outgoing folks. She was Compassionate. Dale had a heart for the mistreated and the underdog, and was sensitive to how others were dealt with. She was a Christian. Although already a nominal church member, Dale visited The Seventh Seal Coffeehouse in Easley, South Carolina in 1972. There she learned what it was to put personal trust in a personal Savior and enter into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
In addition to her husband, Dale is survived by: a sister, Dottie Ashley, of Greenville, South Carolina; an older brother, James C Sitton II, of Atlanta Georgia; a younger brother, John D Sitton Jr. of Easley. She was predeceased by an older sister, Betty Sitton, and a brother-in-law, Dr. Franklin Ashley.
The Rogers would like to express appreciation to all of Dale's caregivers, especially Dr. Pandit and the entire staff at ECU North Oncology.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, 305 W. Main Street, Easley, SC 29640.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Dale’s husband, Pastor Rick Rogers, presiding. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Easley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
