Dan Garber

Dan David Garber, longtime Easley resident, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at his home.
Born in Welch, W.V. on July 8, 1926 to Harry W and Faye Mugridge Garber, Mr. Garber was raised in Bluefield, West Virgina, and he served in the US Army during World War II. He married the former Catherine Whitmire of Easley on June 10, 1949 in Charlotte, N.C., and he was a 1950 graduate of Davidson College.
After a career of forty years, Mr. Garber retired in 1989 as Senior Vice President of Underwriting for Liberty Life Insurance Company.
He was a longtime member of Easley Presbyterian Church and was also active with United Christian Ministries.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Whitmire Garber of the home; four children, David Garber of Martinez, GA, Mark Garber and his wife, Janet Pardo of Fairview, OR, Andrew Garber and his wife, Lysa Garber of Olympia, WA, Susan Garber and her husband, Silvio Bartolomucci of Meriden, CT; a brother, Harry Garber of Huntsville, AL; and five grandchildren, Sarah Garber, Toyo Garber, Jonathan Garber, Marie Pardo-Garber and David Garber. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Dorrie Garber and a brother, Frank Garber.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Easley Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church parlor. Escort of Honor will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Birthday Group. The private committal service will be Saturday morning at Westview Cemetery in Easley, prior to the memorial service.
