Danny Merritt

We regretfully announce Danny Harold Merritt passed away at the age of 61 on June 24th, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. A warrior throughout life, Danny had a difficult battle with liver disease for many years and is finally at rest and no longer suffering. His family takes comfort in knowing he loved the Lord and is now safely in His care. Danny is survived by many loving individuals, including his devoted wife of 37 years, Tammy. His children, Carmen, Chad, and Caleb, and grandchild, Riley are all missing him terribly. He is also survived by his father, Harold, brother, Randy and sister, Kathy Phillips. He was predeceased by his mother, Mildred Merritt. 

Danny will be forever loved and forever remembered as a selfless, hardworking man. Danny loved taking care of his family, being outdoors, hunting, Wren football, and reminiscing with his high school friends. 

Danny underwent a successful liver transplant in 2015, and his family is grateful for the seven additional years they had with Danny because of the team at the Medical University of South Carolina. His family is at peace knowing the team at MUSC did everything in their power to complete a second transplant for Danny, and words cannot express the extreme gratitude for the care he received over the years. If you are not currently an organ donor, Danny would have loved if you would consider becoming one in his honor. No services will take place, as Danny requested, but the family does appreciate your love and support during this difficult time.
