Darrell Owen Querin, 86, of Boiling Springs, SC, husband to Judith Ann Albert Querin, passed away on Wednesday, May 27,2026. Born on December 11, 1939, in Toledo, OH, to the late Elmer Querin and the late Eloise Hill Querin. He was a dedicated professional, cherished church member, and beloved individual.

Throughout his life, Darrell distinguished himself through both his career achievements and his deep commitment to community and faith.

Darrell earned his Engineering Degree from the University of Toledo, showcasing his dedication to education and technical expertise. He went on to build a solid professional career, serving as a quality manager with Toledo Scale where he worked for thirty (30) years). Toledo Scale moved Darrell and his family to Spartanburg, SC in 1984. After leaving Toledo Scale he later worked as a quality engineer for Beverage Air and other manufacturing firms. After retiring from his professional career he worked for US ISS, volunteered as a Guardian Ad Litem and worked for nearly ten (10) years at the Spartanburg County Library (retiring in January of 2026).

Beyond his career, Darrell was known as a genuine “people person” and someone who connected easily with those around him. He enjoyed watching western movies and Ohio State Buckeyes football games but mostly enjoyed his time with his family - especially his grandchildren. His warm personality and engaging nature were felt by everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Darrell was a cherished member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, SC. He was an active and valued volunteer within the church community, offering his time and talents generously. His commitment to his faith and his community provided a cornerstone in his life and touched many lives in turn.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Marlene Oerting.

In addition to his wife of 63 years is son, Steven "Steve" M. Querin; daughter, Dawn J. Querin and grandchildren, Grace, Nicholas and Oliver Querin and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor Darrell's life will be held at St. Paul United Methodist on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 3:00 PM (1320 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC, 29307).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of the Spartanburg County Library and the Spartanburg County Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem Program.

Darrell Querin’s legacy is one of dedication—whether to his profession, his community, or the simple pleasures that enriched his days. He will be remembered with respect and fondness for the impact he made and the kindness he shared.
