David Wallace Bullock

David Wallace Bullock, 66, husband of Elaine Freeman Bullock, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Leland, Mississippi, he was a son of the late James Wallace and Freda Dean Bullock. David was a 1969 graduate of Valdosta High School and a 1973 graduate of Valdosta State College. Following his graduation he was a science teacher at Valdosta High School. He then began a long career as a scientist and expert in wood preservation for the utility pole industry. He served in many positions in his field of expertise and was a member of the American Wood Protection Association and the Southern Pressure Treaters Association. David was reared in the Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Valdosta, GA and was presently a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Central, SC. He was a lifelong learner, reading and studying about history and nature. He enjoyed building furniture, all forms of wood working, photography, was a gunsmith and fisherman and loved the outdoors. Above all, David loved and was a provider for, his family, as well as being devoted to his friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are daughter, Anna Bullock of Savannah, GA, stepdaughter, Virginia (Scott) Kelley of Newnan, GA; son, Ben Bullock of Charlotte, NC; brother, Bart (Monti) Bullock of Greensboro, NC; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Marvin) Moore of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Ben Kelley and Kate Kelley; and 5 nephews, Josh and Colby Bullock, Jay, Josh and John Moore and their families.
Memorial services will be 11 AM, Friday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Central with Rev. Gene Aiken officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 PM, Thursday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 186, Central, SC 29630; Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 300, Boone, NC 28607 or to Charlotte Rescue Mission, 907 W. 1st Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.
