David Clayton Childress, 68, of 217 Concord Church Road, died Friday, October 5, 2007, at his home.

Born in Greenville County, the son of the late Clayton Monroe and Annie Mae Jones Childress, Mr. Childress retired from the Pickens County Building and Maintenance Department and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, and was an avid golfer at the Pickens County Country Club.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Horton Childress of the home; two sons, Ricky Lee Childress of Charleston, and Jamie David Childress of Orlando, FL; a daughter, Rita Faye Holcombe and her husband, Tom, of Easley; two sisters, Margaret Nicholson of Easley and Hettie Lou Heidman of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Whitney Holcombe and Haden Holcombe.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
