David Alan Finley, 56, of 1122 Jameson Road, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at his home following a long battle with cancer.
Born in Pickens County, a son of Nell Robinson Finley of Easley and the late Jack Finley, David was plant manager for Kel Chemicals and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.
David had a great love for horses and team roping was his passion. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association as well as the United States Team Roping Championships. He loved breeding and raising horses. Along with being the 2008 and 2009 SCQHA Amateur Heeling Champion, he also won the 2010 roping series at Tim Rainey�??s. David won a saddle as Champion Header for 2011 Ashber Arena.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife Anita Carter Finley of the home; a son, Jaime Finley (Elizabeth) of Easley; a daughter, Bethany Wilbanks (Brad) of Simpsonville; two step-daughters, Lauren Moore and Chandler Moore, both of the home; two brothers, John Finley (Kathy) of Easley and Gary Finley (Pat) of Spartanburg; a sister, Becky Clark (Mike) of Alabama; four grandchildren Savannah, Emilee, Logan, and David; three step-grandchildren; and his parents-in-law, Travis and Bonnie Allison of Easley and Vincent Carter of Piedmont.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday at Cross Roads Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:30 until 2:45 PM Thursday at the church, prior to the service.
