David Mitchell, Sr., of 207 Hawksbill Drive, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Beacon, NY, a son of the late Stephen and Julia Kormondy Mitchell, Mr. Mitchell was an avid model and craft builder and retired from IBM in Fishkill, N.Y., where he worked as a quality control engineer. He was also a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church of Powdersville.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Newhall Mitchell of the home; one son, David W. Mitchell, Jr., of Easley; one daughter, Lee Ann Bida(Greg) of Easley; a brother, John Edward Mitchell of Easley; one sister, Carolyn M. Tomlins(Donald) of Powdersville, seven grandchildren; Nicole Pelc, Jeremy Mitchell, Corrie Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, Meghan Colton-Mitchell, David William Mitchell lll, and Justin Mitchell. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell was predeceased by two brothers, Stephen George Mitchell, Jr. and Donald M. Mitchell, Sr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
