Dr. David D. Moyle, 75, husband of Margaret "Meg" Hall Moyle, passed away, Monday, June 11, 2018 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was a son of the late Harry and Mildred Jacobs Moyle. He was a graduate of Wilkes College and earned his PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Dr. Moyle came to Clemson University in 1971 and began teaching in the Biomedical Engineering Department. He had a lifelong love of reading and when he left teaching he and a partner opened a bookstore in Seneca. He was recruited to resume his teaching career where he taught Physics until his retirement in 2004 and was honored as Professor Emeritus. He was a member of University Lutheran Church and enjoyed sailing, flying radio controlled airplanes, loved model trains, playing the banjo and working the NY Times Crossword Puzzles.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dr. Megan Alexander (Richard) of Winston-Salem, NC and Erin Strickland (Steve) of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Aidan Alexander, Nora Alexander, Cera Alexander, Ava Strickland and Whit Strickland.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Harry Moyle.
Memorial services will be 11 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at University Lutheran Church with Rev. Chris Heavner officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
