Deborah "Debbie" Lynn Boggs Sweet, 66, of Easley, beloved wife of Rev. Walt Sweet, Jr., went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Born in Greenville, SC, on October 4, 1959, to Delores Barnes Boggs and the late Vernon Boggs, she was a beloved special education teacher and devoted minister's wife. Debbie graced the world with her strong faith and kind, loving spirit, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
As a cherished member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, her influence was felt far and wide. She dedicated herself not only to her spiritual growth but also to uplifting others within her community. Her role as a Sunday School teacher of the Servant's Heart Bible Fellowship Class exemplified her commitment to mentoring and guiding others in their faith journey. She poured her heart into her teachings, ensuring that each lesson was to point people to faith in Jesus.
Her unwavering faith served as an encouragement to many. Her deep devotion to her family, friends, and faith community showcased her selflessness and nurturing nature. She was revered and loved by all, never hesitating to offer a kind word, a listening ear, or a comforting hug. Debbie lived her life with intention, radiating positivity and grace in every interaction.
Debbie was a graduate of Palmetto High School and Anderson University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in special education from Lenoir Rhyne University and her Master’s Degree of Education from Clemson University. She retired after 28 dedicated years in special education from the School District of Greenville County.
Debbie's career as a special education teacher was a testament to her compassion and dedication. She touched the lives of countless students and their families, fostering an environment of love and understanding in her classroom. Her passion for education extended beyond academics; she believed in nurturing the whole child, instilling confidence, and encouraging dreams.
In addition to her husband of 42 wonderful years, she is survived by daughter, Emily Owens (Parker); granddaughters, Ellie and Lindley Owens; brother, Richard Boggs (Judy); sister-in-law, Barbara Brockman (Jerry); several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Rock Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens, SC.
