Delano Lester Bryant, Jr., affectionately known to many as "Smiley," passed peacefully on March 22, 2026. Born on September 23, 1954, Junior was a man whose warmth and optimism left a lasting imprint on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
From a young age, Junior’s life was marked by hard work and dedication. Beginning his career at just thirteen, he stepped up to help support his family, a commitment that never wavered throughout his life. He spent many years as a loom fixer in the mills, where his steady hands and sharp mind were invaluable. But beyond his skills with machinery, it was his unwavering positivity that earned him his beloved nickname. No matter the challenge, Junior found a way to see the bright side, a trait that endeared him to friends and colleagues alike.
He had an incredible knack for bringing light and laughter into every room he entered. Known for his sweetness and humor, Junior was the kind of person whose company was genuinely cherished. To his sisters, he was much more than a brother; he was a steadfast protector and confidant, always ready to help them out of any tricky situation or keep their most guarded secrets. In a household bustling with strong women, Junior was the solid rock they could count on, offering support and strength whenever it was needed.
Outside of work and family, Junior had a passion that truly fueled his spirit: old Chevy trucks and engines. His love for mechanics was not just a hobby but a craft. He could expertly dismantle and reassemble engines, handling each part with the precision and care of a true master mechanic. This talent was a source of pride and joy throughout his life, reflecting his deep appreciation for things built to last and work well.
Delano is survived by his sisters, Deborah Williams (Joel) and Vickie Huffman (Rick); his nieces and nephews, Joseph “Daniel” Bryant (Christy), Ansley Huffman (Harmon), Drake Huffman, Rebecca Williams, and Jeremiah Williams; as well as seven great nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Lois Ann Bryant, and his father, Delano Lester Bryant, Sr.
A graveside service will be held in Robinson Memorial Gardens on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
Junior’s story is one of kindness, laughter, strength, and relentless dedication. Though he has left this world, his smile and the lessons he lived by will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
