Delia Frances Kirkland, 86, passed away peacefully at home Friday, January 11, 2019. She was born in Adair County, Kentucky February 17, 1932, a daughter of Odis and Ollie (Corbin) Cowans.
Heaven has received the gift of another beautiful angel.
Miss Dee, as she was affectionately known, retired as an operator in the textile mills, and worked at Wendy's in Clemson for almost 20 years. She was passionate about church and her love of the Lord. Miss Dee was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for more than sixty years. She was very active in church functions, loved singing in the choir, and was passionate about helping others. She loved her family and friends very deeply.
Miss Dee is survived by a son, Randall Kirkland and his wife, Ann and daughter, Rhonda Clark and her husband, Steve, all of Central; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clifford Cowan and Dick Cowan, both of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Hilton; 4 sons, Larry, Marion "Deno", Ronald "Duck", and Kenneth Kirkland; a grandson, Corey Kenneth Kirkland; a brother, James Cowan; and a sister, Velma Burton.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday,, January 14 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 3041 Six Mile Highway, Central. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
