Della Horton Williams, wife of Charles B. Williams, died peacefully at her home in Seneca on January 3, 2012. Della was born to Helen and John Horton in Kingstree, SC on February 19, 1949. She graduated from Kingstree High School and then attended Newberry College. Later, while attending school in Charleston, Della met the love of her life, Charles Williams. They were married in 1970 and remained so for 42 years until death did them part. Della worked in the Greenville Hospital System for 18 years and then moved to Seneca where she worked in the Bursar�??s Office of Clemson University for 26 years.
In 1974 a daughter, Kathryn, was born and became the center of Charles and Della�??s lives. From the day of her birth Kathryn was a never ending source of joy to Della. She graduated from Clemson University and went on to earn a master�??s degree and employment in the admissions office of Clemson University, making Della very proud. Then came her greatest happiness, her two grandchildren, Braxton and Caroline �?" who called her Dee Dee. She was a devoted grandmother, never seeming to tire while watching them grow up.
Della is survived by her husband, Charles, her daughter, Kathryn, two grandchildren, her brother, Josh Horton of Pawley�??s Island and her sister, Helen Stonestreet of Georgetown.
Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Clemson on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 3pm. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3pm Sunday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 397 College Ave., Clemson, SC 29631
