Deloris Elaine
Cooper Garrett
May 2, 1943 – June 8, 2026
Deloris Elaine Cooper Garrett, 83, beloved wife of the late James "J.R." Robert Garrett, woke up in Heaven on Monday, June 8, 2025. Born on May 2, 1943, in Greenville SC, to the late Ennese Bernard Cooper and the late Ollie Smith Cooper, a beloved soul whose radiant smile and fiesty spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her. She loved her son and daughter and adored her family. She was a graduate of Wren High School and a member of Siloam Baptist Church.
Her career in manufacturing as a quality control specialist demonstrated her dedication and meticulous nature, yet it was her vibrant personality that truly defined her. A social butterfly, Deloris had a magnetic presence that drew people in. She cherished the company of friends and family, always ready with a great sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest days. Patience and peace were important in her life, reflecting a soul that weathered life's challenges with unwavering strength.
Though life presented its trials, Deloris met each one with a resilient heart, never losing sight of the importance of peace and joy. Her legacy is one of warmth, laughter, and an enduring love for the people around her.
Deloris had a special fondness for red birds, perhaps drawn to their bright and joyful spirit much like her own. She loved to cook, sharing not just food but moments of connection and comfort with those she cared about. Her favorite treats—a Pepsi, paired with a McDonald’s cheeseburger, were simple pleasures that brought her contentment and a smile.
Music was a treasured part of Deloris' life. She enjoyed a wide variety of genres, but country music held a special place in her heart, especially the sounds of Alan Jackson and Elvis Presley.
In addition to her beloved husband and her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Reba Cooper Lype and Judy Cooper Kirk.
She is survived by daughter, Tina L.S. Garrett Kelterborn of Liberty, SC; son, James Scott Garrett of Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Jennifer A. Patton (Art) of Cowpens, SC, Mark A. Kelterborn (Ashley) of Piedmont, SC and Jonathan K. Kelterborn, also of Piedmont, SC; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Hunter, Gabby, Mason and Lauren; sister, Ramona Cooper Wyatt of Piedmont, SC; brother, Jackie Cooper (Carol), also of Piedmont, SC and many nieces and nephews who were extremely fond of her.
Arrangements are being finalized and will be published when available.
The family would like to thank special caregivers, Paige, James, Felicia and Candace at Manna Post Acute for their love, kindness and devoted care of Deloris.
